How to use your WYSIWYG to resize images

You can drag and resize images within the WYSIWYG if you are not particular as to the exact size of the image. However, if you are looking for particular dimensions, use the following technique:

  1. Open a page to edit (with wysiwyg editor showing).
  2. Click in the copy where you would like to insert the image
  3. Click the ‘insert image’ button (tree icon)
  4. In the popup click the browse icon (right of the Image URL field).
  5. In second pop up – upload your new image using the upload feature.
    1. Click Upload tab
    2. Click browse button
    3. Find file on local machine and click OK
    4. If you want to create an additional thumbnail 90X90 version at the same time check the Thumb checkbox
    5. Click UPLOAD button
  6. Now using your newly uploaded image or a previously uploaded image, click the RESIZE tab at the top of the popup.
  7. In the width field at the top, fill in the pixel width you would like to resize to.
  8. Just click the height field (second field) for the system to automatically fill in correct height to match the width (to constrain proportions)
  9. If you would like to overwrite your current image, uncheck the “create a new image’ button. Left check, this will create a new image version
  10. Click RESIZE button.
  11. Once done a new version will appear in the list with _0 after the name.
  12. Click image to select and popup automatically closes to show first popup. Again you have one last chance to adjust the dimensions in this popup.
  13. Click insert

Note that un-resized images in the WYSIWYG editor can also be edited with the width fields in the following way:

  1. select the image
  2. click the wysiwyg button (tree icon)
  3. first popup appears where you can change the dimensions manually.

Unfortunately this method is unreliable on already resized images.
