Using the WYSIWIG

The WYSIWIG is used to add text, images, hyperlinks and media and more to your website.

  1. Bold icon: Click to bold selected text. If text is not selected, the next text you type will be bold. Each consecutive click will toggle this function on and off.
  2. Italic Icon: Click to italicise selected text. If text is not selected, the next text you type will be italicised. Each consecutive click will toggle this function on and off.  
  3. Align Left: This will left align selected text.
  4. Align Centre: This will centre align selected text.
  5. Align Right: This will right align selected text.
  6. Align Full: This will fully align selected text.
  7. Outdent: Click to decrease the left paragraph indent. Each consecutive click will move text further to the left. If text is not selected, the cursor will indent.
  8. Indent: Click to increase the left paragraph indent. Each consecutive click will move text further to the right. If text is not selected, the cursor will indent.
  9. Undo: This will undo your previous action.
  10. Redo: This will undo your previous action.
  11. Insert/Edit Link Icon:  Select the text or image that you would like to make into a hyperlink, and click this icon. A pop-up window will appear. Type in the full URL of the link or the email address. You may browse for a file you wish to link your text/image to. If the text or image has an existing link it will show up here - just type over the top to modify it, or remove it to delete the link. Click 'Insert' to save changes.  Unlink Icon: Breaks your link you wish to unlink.

12. Insert/Edit Anchor: Anchors are links you wish to link to on the same page. You should put anchors where you want to link to.

  • Place the cursor where you would like to insert an anchor .
  • Click on the anchor link.
  • Name the anchor (preferably no spaces) and click 'insert'.
  • Highlight the copy you would like to link to the anchor (= the ship!).
  • Click the link icon In the popup, choose the newly created anchor from the anchor dropdown.  Click “insert”

13. Insert/edit image: Please refer to, Add images to wysiwig, http://cfmeu.asn.au/help/add-images-to-wysiwyg14. Clean up messy code: This button allows you to clean up HTML code, perhaps from HTML text that you copied in from another source.
15. Edit HTML source: Allows you to edit the HTML source code.
16. Cut: Cut content.
17. Copy: Copy content.
18. Paste: Paste content.
19. Remove formatting: Removes formatting from text copied from somewhere else.
20. Format: Select predefined formats for Paragraph, Address, Heading1, etc...
21. Paste from word: Paste content from Word.
22. Inserts a new table: Insert a new table.

Insert/edit embedded media: To insert embedded media (such as Flash), place the cursor at the desired location and click this icon. A pop-up dialog will display that allows you to enter the Type, File or URL, and other information about the media.
Separate the teaser and the body of this content: Insert a teaser break for news, incidents and alerts items. Everything before the teaser break will be seen on the list page (home, news, alert or incident list all pages). If you uncheck 'show summary in full view' checkbox above the wysiwyg editor, you can create a completely different teaser to the content viewed on the full article. Remember to only insert a teaser break before or after a paragraph style format - not H1, H2 etc.
