Members are reminded that if your employment is terminated and you want to file an application for unfair dismissal you only have 14 days to lodge your application with Fair Work Australia.

The time limit for filing an unfair dismissal claim is changing from 14 to 21 days from 1 January 2013.  If your employment is terminated before 1 January 2013, you will still only have 14 days to lodge your application with Fair Work Australia.

If you are dismissed during the Christmas/New Year period, and your CFMEU Branch is closed, you should consider lodging your application with Fair Work Australia directly to meet the time limit.
