Since then the union has learned there are plans to close WorkCover offices including its Chatwood branch.

Mobile crane members - come and have your say
The CFMEU in conjunction with CICA is setting up an industry body to deal with mobile crane issues.
The most important aspect of this is rank and file involvement.
As of the 16th of April we will be holding meetings at the Lidcombe office of the CFMEU for the financial members of the union to have their say in how the industry is run. You are the people who do the work, and by having your say in a constructive manner, can only help to better safety and industrial maters in the sector.

Australian union members deserve and will get the highest standards
A message from ACTU Secretary Dave Oliver
I’ve been a union member all my working life. The union movement I believe in is one that fights every day for fairness and which puts its members’ interests first.
Recent allegations against a few individuals, the most prominent being Craig Thomson and Michael Williamson, have shocked and saddened me.
There can be no place in the union movement for corruption or the misuse of members’ money.

Asbestos find at Barangaroo – third time unlucky for workers
Asbestos has been found again at Barangaroo in an area where workers were excavating after having been reassured the area was clear.
Construction Forestry Mining and Energy Union officials found 23 asbestos fragments within 10 minutes at the Baulderstone site, after being told the environment company they engage had certified the area as asbestos-free.
